I decided well before last night's show to try something different with the blog. Unfortunately the show was horrendous last night and that will affect the delivery and the content. Given last week's episode, this week had so much hype to it, I know everyone was feeling it. What's going to happen? Are Annie and Naomi going to come to blows? etc. etc. etc. Well this show was 12 eggs short of a dozen. Possibly it was the hype that last week brought us and the anticipated return of Brenda that made you think you were going to be in for something special. Unfortunately it was not. It was overhyped and I brought that upon myself. It's a shame because it was a down week for Gossip Girl as well, not enough Chuck Bass. I haven't even watched the Hills yet, and I am getting nervous that that might be the worst six and a half minutes of tv this week. If you noticed i started capitalizing my "i's" and making an effort in my grammar and spelling for the sole reason that my wife said she may read it if I do a better job in the grammar department. So here is hoping she reads along with us, but after last night's episode I don't know if she will ever watch again.
So here goes the first running diary for The 9-0 Report:
8:35 pm
The dvr is set and I am plotting my time when I am going to watch 90210 when Scott calls for a little pre 9-0 hype. He is pumped, I am pumped and I am getting more pumped just talking about how great last week's episode was and how it is just starting to fall into place, we have our antagonist (Naomi) and our protagonist (Annie) as our main event, the undercard is filling in nicely and the return of Brenda Walsh tonight. Brenda is coming back!!! During this conversation I am in the kitchen with the 9-0 wife and she is wondering what two 30 year old guys are talking about. All she hears is "yeah its going to be awesome, I am pumped ...... she is coming back ...... such a bitch, its great" Scott has his night planned, he is having a nice chicken dinner and going to catch up on the blog before watching this episode to build upon the hype that we have created in our minds.
8:50 pm
With dinner in front of me I pull a strategic move to watch the end of prison break while I eat so that I have free hand during 90210 to take time stamped notes for the running diary. The wife doesn't mind.
9:15 pm
Right to scenes from last week and prior relevant scenes from past weeks. More than usual to build up the hype. To take a line out of the late Gorrilla Monsoon's library "you can cut the electricity with a knife in here"
9:17 pm
We start just where we left off last week --- outside with Naomi and Annie and their "brother". That's preety cool, almost like a to be continued episode, you don't see too much of that anymore. Ethan, Silver and Dixon are just watching the fight, this goes back to my point form last week, there are no best friends on this show. If either one of them had a best friend they would have intervened. Now back in the house Wilson family meeting with the "son" and Naomi is still there. I don't get that. After what she just did, If I am Annie I am kicking her ass out of my house. Then it gets wierd, Naomi's mom comes over and rather than run to her son or be filled with any kind of emotion she says "my son, my son". I am thinking this is either really bad acting or totally fake.
9:19 pm
Opening song and right to the first commercial break. Thank G-D for dvr. My wife now just realizes that I am taking notes and tells me that I am going to have to learn how to fast forward and write.
9:21 pm
Ethan and Annie are walking through the hallways calling each other boyfriend and girlfriend -- what losers. Could you imagine Brandon or Dylan doing this. There's Naomi, would be a good time for a cat fight but ......
9:23 pm
There's Kelly sticking her nose in where it doesn't belong and ruining what could be a good scene for her own pesonal gain and benefit. By the way is she qualified to be a guidance counselor? I guess if you were addicted to coke, stole your best friend's boyfriend, joined a cult etc. etc. etc.
Why is Adriana hanging out with Dixon and Silver a little wierd, no? Oh shit, my wife just realized what i was doing, this is not going to be fun but let me take the abuse for the benefit of 90210 ---- "I am so embarrassed right now, this is not even funny, who clocks the time? what kind of loser are you? if you don't stop I am going to watch in another room" Ok its over, i still have the pad and pen, we can continue.
9:25 pm
Silver's live blog -- another idea. Looks like Annie won the friends but what about Adriana, wasn't Naomi her best friend? and was Navid just absent from school this week? I keep checking the phone for the random text from the little one.
9:32 pm
First Brenda Walsh sighting and Kelly re-gifts some flowers from her office and Brenda is keen enough to call her out on it as Kelly is asking why she doesn't return phone calls. Do we have to get into this Kelly, do we? I would venture to say it has something to do with your comment about Dylan amongst other things oh great one.
halfway throught the show so far and it sucks --- so overhyped. Same feeling i felt at WMXX.
9:39 pm
Nice hair Tracy Clark.
9:40 pm
Possibly the best line on tv since Leave it to Beaver "Ward I think you were a little hard on the Beaver last night" ---- Silver "That skirt is so short you are going to need two hairdos".
too little Brenda
9:42 pm
How come "brother" Sean doesn't hang with Dixon, Annie or Naomi?
9:43 pm
This lunch is pretty awkward with Brenda and Kelly. Brenda telling Kelly it is not like High School anymore, they have nothing in common. I would say, Brenda is cool, Kelly is not. Brenda doesn't want to fight over Dylan with Kelly, that's right she should just take her man. As awkward as this scene was, it was the highlight of the episode, and that's bad. Brenda and Kelly breaking up, WOW, sure took long enough. This is when i asked my wife what she thought now and she said "I am am supposed to be impressed?" she is a tough one to sell.
9:49 pm
The wife is not enjoying the show --- I wonder if it is me?
9:50 pm
Silver was playing with a rubics cube ---who does that? is it 1982? so retro, i love it. She is the type of girl who you will see in a bar playing Ms. Pacman.
9:53 pm
Brenda is in the hospital and Kelly is the emergency contact. Why not Donna or David? History means something to Kelly so that is why she came for Brenda but Brenda is honest and tells her she slept with Ryan. Kelly is mad, why I ask. Didn't she tell Ryan she couldn't see him and didn't want him to wait? There goes Kelly again being selfish Kelly Taylor trying to control what everyone else does for the betterment of herself. This girl is garbage, I mean really. Whore. Now I wonder did Brenda really sleep with Ryan or did she jsut say that so Kelly will finally be out of her life and she can have Dylan all to herself without the Kelly Taylor drama?
9:56 pm
The "son" is staying at the wilson house when off to bed he goes and he makes a phone call to someone to tell them he is getting in real good with the family. Who did he call? I have a theory but will save it for another post. I told my wife and 1 reader so far just in case. Being that the next episode is not until January 6th I will have to post in between as this show did not leave us off on a good note and I feel responsible to bring back some hype.
9:57 pm
Scenes to the tune of O.A.R's new song. Brenda is pregnant and a lot of recapping. Speaking of Brenda rumor has it they are going to kill her off the show with a terminal disease. If they do this would her paqrents, brother and the rest of the gang want to come say goodbye or go to the funeral? overall disappointed. It is 50/50 my wife watches the show again. Me, I am in it for the long haul.
on the rest of the random thoughts:
-Reccomendation of the weak is O.A.R. if you don't know them look them up on itunes, not a bad gig. Been to a few of their shows and they are a lot of fun. The wife even had our wedding band learn one of their sonegs to play at our wedding.
-a part of me misses GREEK.
-Gators hung half a hundred on the ol' ball coach
-my neice turned 1 this week, good times
-did some charity last week for a good cause and i ended being more profitable as I won a year's membership at equinox and a signed marty brodeuer hockey stick which was donated right back to charity. Why do i want that, would he want a signed legal pad of mine
-Watched the Wizard of Oz this weekend, i was a little off as the last time i watched i was listening to Dark Side of the Moon. It is on my list of things to do this year, watch in its entirety.
till some other time when we will throw some theories around since this show just took on a Desperate Housewives approach.

The B*tch is Back
I have waited so long today, let's get right into the random thoughts on last night's episode:
-We have finally found a place where we can live with Naomi on the show---- as the bitch. I thought she fit the role perfect and has finally given lofe to this annoying character. i hope this continues throughout even now that their half brother has shown up.
-Speaking of the half brother, a little wierd that he showed up at harry wilson's house at midnight on the night of Annie's sweet 16 when Harry Wilson wasn't the one who hired the private investigator's to look for him.
-After a few weeks of dragging i am proud to say 90210 is back. Great episode last night highlighted by the Naomi heel turn on Annie. Like Ric Flair once said in one of his many retirement speeches "Damn that's Good TV". As stated in previus posts the the female villain is essential to creating good drama especially in high school. We knew Naomi turning on Annie was coming, it was set up beautifully and we were not surprised. (for those that don't follow a "heel turn" is when a good guy or crowd favorite turns bad or becomes a heel). The two greatest heel turns i can think of off the top of my head were Andre turning on Hogan in '87 and Hogan turning on all of us in the summer of '96 and joining the NWO. Naomi's turn was nothing of the sort as we were a part of the turn, only Annie was too stupid to realize. Naomi played it great and this should be the role that fits her. Valerie Malone was a true heel on 90210, Brenda never was. When Valerie showed up in Beverly Hills the show moved away from the 80's teen feel to a little more edgy 90's. I am all for Naomi now, the show needs scandals to survive, everything can't always be great.
-Again Ethan peaked while getting road head in the first ten minutes of the pilot. He has turned into a total geek and probably graduate early go to college and pledge Rusty's fraternity and be his little brother.
-Navid and Adrianna have stepped it up with their relationship, the show is never revolved around them but they still are able to add value. I think they are a better couple than Silver and Dixon right now.
-I finally figured out what the show is missing ---- Best friend's on the male side. We had Brandon and Dylan, they had this instant bond which couldn't be broken. They were like brothers but not brothers. The going trend on TV is this Bromania ----- Remember Spencer and Brody, the boys from Entourage, the gang on prison break, Denny Crane and Allan Shore on Boston Legal any cast of the real world -- the guys are always closer than the girls (for instance the 3 guys who ended the last and greatest season of the real world went on a bar tour together). There are no "Best Friends" on this show..... male or female, sure naomi and adrianna say it but we haven't seen it. Ethan has grown up in LA all his life, he had no friends before Annie and Dixon came to town, all he had was naomi. I know the same can be said for steve sanders and Dylan was a loner, Brandon was his first real friend. I believe this will be essential, you ned that male bond. We now have Ethan trying to be the peacemaker between the show's greatest feud, Annie and Naomi. That's pretty weak and needs to be fixed.
-Speaking of Annie and Naomi, their relation is very OC --- Annie's father and Naomi's mother have a kid together who is each their half brother on a different side and they are fighting over the same boyfriend. only the OC, 90210 never got this complicated.
-I am not even going to get into the Annie/Ethan Naomi/Ethan who is allowed to be dating whom subjuect. it is childish and immature. Perhaps maybe Kelly Taylor may want to weigh in on that, she is a model for this sort of behavior.
-and oh by the way kelly, i hope ryan nailed brenda good. I dare you to get mad at her for that. you think you can just show back up after you figure things out with Dylan and expect that Ryan is just going to drop everything to be with you. I mean just who do you think you are? I wish there was a Blair Waldorf to sort you out in the class of '93. That cop should have arrested you on the spot for being stupid enough to think you had a claim on Ryan. And why did you chase him down when he was leaving the school, to give him one of your morals lectures? Look in the mirror honey, steve sanders was right at that Spring dance back in '91. and we know Brenda should have worn another dress not you.
-and brenda didn't know the little girl from Minnesota put out like that, learning from kelly Taylor aren't we?
-now that the drugs are out of the school, i wonder what the fallout will be. this had to be the worst story line of the year.
-best scene of the evening ---- Annie standing up for herself. bravo little girl, (i hear you are like that off camera as well) she really gave it to Naomi the way Brenda should have senior year. I hope there is more of that to come. We can have a great mom/daughter mud wrestling match with lori loughlin and Annie v. Naomi and her mom.
-brenda is back next week, shouldn't only get better for the rest fo the month being that it is november sweeps.
other random tv thoughts:
-only 70 days to Lost
-big twist on Prison Break this week (no spoilers here)
-met whitney port's boyfriend this week on the hills, they actually show them meeting for the first time
-light on tv this week as i was travelling
other randowm thoughts
-go gators, looking like a bcs run is coming
-kudos to the TEP house at UF... a lot of shit went down at that place through the years, its just a shame similar situated jewish kids from south florida and the northeast won't get to enjoy that place as we all once did. Tep does i pass
-as i was visiting a friend over the weekend a grabbed their coffe table book and began to read and it is my reccomendation of the week "How to Roll a Blunt for Dummies" you can pick up a copy from the author himself on West 34th Street between 7th and 8th ave most days. Believe it or not it is not just about rolling blunts.
-speaking of TEP i saw my old tep house roommate. I will never lose touch with the guy but will never keep in touch with him, thats just the way he is. He is there when you need him and if you don't need him he is likely down for the count. A true character in his own right.
that's all for now and Naomi, welcome to the show please finally grab your seating card and join us!
till next week

week #9 the rise of Ad
Due to the election coverage I did not get to watch 90210 until very early this morning. It is one of those shows where i won't leave the house until it is watched. Given that I may not really be on my game today, but that's ok since 90210 really wasn't on its game last night and has given us just a filler episode which in the grand scheme of things and for the benefit of the longevity of the show is a good thing. However, if the show doesn't last, these fillers episodes are pointless.
on to the random thoughts from last:
-as stated in the title we are witnessing the rise of Adriana's character. Whether it is as a good girl or bad girl i think she is here to stay. She is coming back to reality and dating Navid who appears somewhat normal and not evil like her in past episodes. But when they break up, that's when she could be must watch tv, who knows what she might do. Drugs? although she does show some restraint at this little girl party for being a day out of rehab. Sex is obvioulsy meaningless to her as she was willing to have sex with Navid to pay him back for funding her drug rehab stay. Seems like so long ago she was the lead in the school play.
-Naomi still sucks. Is Ozzy the andrea zuckerman of this class, from the other side of the tracks? and what happened to Hannah Zuckerman Vazquez, was that a tease in the pilot? why can't they just put her on the show?
-Kelly Taylor is back next week ---- she was in the coming attractions and rumor has it that she has signed on for an additional 5 more episodes. Are you too good to just sign on to the show like anyother character on the show? I mean what are your credentials really? I am sure there will be plenty more righteous kelly taylor moments where she will portray herself better than everyone else. Neddless to say plenty more kelly taylor rants to come. And didn't look like Dylan returned with her. Maybe he wisened up and will return with Brenda. Then Kelly can go and find professor Finley and rejoin that cult that brandon and dylan should have never saved her from. She chose herself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-That party at Silver's house was wilder than any any party on the original show that had Steve in his buttoned down shirt buttoned up to the top (no tie) serving fruity drinks. Imean other than tequila they had grilled cheese and microwave pizza. I mean who goes to someone's house and goes into their fridge to get white bread and cheese and makes grilled cheese sandwiches? Ozzy does. Ozzy is likeable and i wouldnt be surprised to see his role and presence on the show increased.
-Annie ---- boy did she grow up in this episode and she is only 15. Her friend Naomi takes her for her first pair of Jimmy Choo shoes (which she thinks is chinese food) and how does she repay her ---- by breaking her promise not to be with Ethan. Poor girl will pay at her sweet 16 next, to which everyone is invited. It probably would have been cool to see Annie and Ethan have this secretive relationship for a few episodes, i thought that would be a good story line.
-Ryan --- just how stupid are you pick up your student (undercover narc) girlfriend at a hs party where all of your students are. You deserve your paid leave nad should have to suffer through a lecture from Kelly Taylor while you are gone.
-That party was during the week, and almost the whole school was there. Is there a loss of control in Beverly Hills?
-and for the little one, Principal Harry wears converse.
See you all at Annie's Sweet 16, hopefully grandma will be there for a little comic relief
the rest:
-Brad Bellick dies a hero monday night on prison break, a great turn of events for a character that was reallya roller coaster ride from the beginning. His self centered personality will be missed from the gang.
-We also must say good bye to D'Shawn Hardell. The good guys finally got the best of him and Mahone got his revenge. Maybe Dr. Bailey will take him back at Seattle Grace.
-Law and Order season premiere tonight. This is the original, Season 19.
-Lipstick Jungle was moved from wednesday night to friday night. Friday night is where shows go to die. Obviously this season of the jungle didnt cut it. My wife loves the show, i feel bad. She hasn't been this passionate about tv since the newlyweds was canceled and nick and jessica got a divorce.
-Still reccomending Dirty Sexy Money ---- rich people and scandal in new york city.
-I am going to take a minute to plug a friends movie playing in select movies throughout the country. Go see the "other end of the line" my friend austin is one of the main characters opposite Jesse Metcalf. He spent several weeks in India last year filming it.
-Rumor has it CW is working on reprising Melrose place. I didn't watch the original so i know very little. It spun off of 90210 when Jake the painter who was painting Jackie Taylor's house moved there. Principal Harry Wilson also lived there under an alias i would be left to assume, so did Brie Van De Kamp and numerous other tv personalities. So my question is as Melrose spun off 90210 where does it stand if it comes back, is there a relation to the new 90210 and if so what do you do about Harry Wilson? He can never go there.
-after 7 or 8 years the Sheild is finally closing up shop on fx. it was a good run and i can't wait for the ending. the story line has actually spanned the entire run of the show. Only 3 more episodes left.
