I have waited so long today, let's get right into the random thoughts on last night's episode:
-We have finally found a place where we can live with Naomi on the show---- as the bitch. I thought she fit the role perfect and has finally given lofe to this annoying character. i hope this continues throughout even now that their half brother has shown up.
-Speaking of the half brother, a little wierd that he showed up at harry wilson's house at midnight on the night of Annie's sweet 16 when Harry Wilson wasn't the one who hired the private investigator's to look for him.
-After a few weeks of dragging i am proud to say 90210 is back. Great episode last night highlighted by the Naomi heel turn on Annie. Like Ric Flair once said in one of his many retirement speeches "Damn that's Good TV". As stated in previus posts the the female villain is essential to creating good drama especially in high school. We knew Naomi turning on Annie was coming, it was set up beautifully and we were not surprised. (for those that don't follow a "heel turn" is when a good guy or crowd favorite turns bad or becomes a heel). The two greatest heel turns i can think of off the top of my head were Andre turning on Hogan in '87 and Hogan turning on all of us in the summer of '96 and joining the NWO. Naomi's turn was nothing of the sort as we were a part of the turn, only Annie was too stupid to realize. Naomi played it great and this should be the role that fits her. Valerie Malone was a true heel on 90210, Brenda never was. When Valerie showed up in Beverly Hills the show moved away from the 80's teen feel to a little more edgy 90's. I am all for Naomi now, the show needs scandals to survive, everything can't always be great.
-Again Ethan peaked while getting road head in the first ten minutes of the pilot. He has turned into a total geek and probably graduate early go to college and pledge Rusty's fraternity and be his little brother.
-Navid and Adrianna have stepped it up with their relationship, the show is never revolved around them but they still are able to add value. I think they are a better couple than Silver and Dixon right now.
-I finally figured out what the show is missing ---- Best friend's on the male side. We had Brandon and Dylan, they had this instant bond which couldn't be broken. They were like brothers but not brothers. The going trend on TV is this Bromania ----- Remember Spencer and Brody, the boys from Entourage, the gang on prison break, Denny Crane and Allan Shore on Boston Legal any cast of the real world -- the guys are always closer than the girls (for instance the 3 guys who ended the last and greatest season of the real world went on a bar tour together). There are no "Best Friends" on this show..... male or female, sure naomi and adrianna say it but we haven't seen it. Ethan has grown up in LA all his life, he had no friends before Annie and Dixon came to town, all he had was naomi. I know the same can be said for steve sanders and Dylan was a loner, Brandon was his first real friend. I believe this will be essential, you ned that male bond. We now have Ethan trying to be the peacemaker between the show's greatest feud, Annie and Naomi. That's pretty weak and needs to be fixed.
-Speaking of Annie and Naomi, their relation is very OC --- Annie's father and Naomi's mother have a kid together who is each their half brother on a different side and they are fighting over the same boyfriend. only the OC, 90210 never got this complicated.
-I am not even going to get into the Annie/Ethan Naomi/Ethan who is allowed to be dating whom subjuect. it is childish and immature. Perhaps maybe Kelly Taylor may want to weigh in on that, she is a model for this sort of behavior.
-and oh by the way kelly, i hope ryan nailed brenda good. I dare you to get mad at her for that. you think you can just show back up after you figure things out with Dylan and expect that Ryan is just going to drop everything to be with you. I mean just who do you think you are? I wish there was a Blair Waldorf to sort you out in the class of '93. That cop should have arrested you on the spot for being stupid enough to think you had a claim on Ryan. And why did you chase him down when he was leaving the school, to give him one of your morals lectures? Look in the mirror honey, steve sanders was right at that Spring dance back in '91. and we know Brenda should have worn another dress not you.
-and brenda didn't know the little girl from Minnesota put out like that, learning from kelly Taylor aren't we?
-now that the drugs are out of the school, i wonder what the fallout will be. this had to be the worst story line of the year.
-best scene of the evening ---- Annie standing up for herself. bravo little girl, (i hear you are like that off camera as well) she really gave it to Naomi the way Brenda should have senior year. I hope there is more of that to come. We can have a great mom/daughter mud wrestling match with lori loughlin and Annie v. Naomi and her mom.
-brenda is back next week, shouldn't only get better for the rest fo the month being that it is november sweeps.
other random tv thoughts:
-only 70 days to Lost
-big twist on Prison Break this week (no spoilers here)
-met whitney port's boyfriend this week on the hills, they actually show them meeting for the first time
-light on tv this week as i was travelling
other randowm thoughts
-go gators, looking like a bcs run is coming
-kudos to the TEP house at UF... a lot of shit went down at that place through the years, its just a shame similar situated jewish kids from south florida and the northeast won't get to enjoy that place as we all once did. Tep does i pass
-as i was visiting a friend over the weekend a grabbed their coffe table book and began to read and it is my reccomendation of the week "How to Roll a Blunt for Dummies" you can pick up a copy from the author himself on West 34th Street between 7th and 8th ave most days. Believe it or not it is not just about rolling blunts.
-speaking of TEP i saw my old tep house roommate. I will never lose touch with the guy but will never keep in touch with him, thats just the way he is. He is there when you need him and if you don't need him he is likely down for the count. A true character in his own right.
that's all for now and Naomi, welcome to the show please finally grab your seating card and join us!
till next week
