Week # 5

Given the holiday yesterday, I had a full day of anticipation of last night’s episode. If you read last week’s email you know what a fan I am of the love triangle and how I feel that automatically makes good tv. The fact that the love triangle is dates back almost 15 years makes this great tv. The fact that the love triangle is Kelly-Dylan-Brenda makes this must watch tv. I must say though, I was a little disappointed in Kelly’s behavior towards Brenda. We forget that the only reason we view Brenda as a villain on the show is because of the way she acted behind the scenes not for her character role on the actual show. Also by bring in Valerie to take her place and Gina to subsequently take Valerie’s place we are led to believe again that Brenda was the villain only because Val and Gina played those roles filling in for the departed Brenda. Brenda was never the villain. If anything it was Kelly. I mean really your best friend goes to Paris for the summer and you start hooking up with her boyfriend. Kelly, you ignorant slut. Then not only do you not tell her about it right away, you let Dylan and Brenda break up naturally and you casually start dating him afterwards. But then guilt sets in and you decide to tell Brenda of your escapades over the summer. But somehow after all that Kelly has the nerve to call out Brenda on her “old habits”. This bothered me to no end. Somewhere, I am thinking during the Brandon relationships, Kelly went from backstabbing slut (recall how she first go together with Brandon) to almighty righteous one. We know Brenda and Dylan were in touch while both were off the show and in Europe, but Kelly was with Brandon. Get over it you selfish slut. And now that you couldn’t control yourself for one night after Dylan has yet again disappointed you and you have a kid, Brenda has to be out of the love triangle. This cant be by Kelly’s rules and Kelly’s way. Brenda is a good person and deserves Dylan, if she wants him. There is obviously something going on with Brenda and Dylan. What does deleting the # from the cellphone do? You cant get it again? He wont call again? I think Kelly will be in for a rude awakening on her trip to Wyoming. Speaking of Wyoming, how are the waves out there, or did Dylan give up surfing altogether? The fact that Brenda has possibly waited 15 years for her revenge on Kelly excites me. Recall from a few posts ago I recounted Brenda’s last episode on the show when she told Dylan to give her something to come home to, well she is home………where is Dylan?

On to the random thoughts
- Fashion shows always create high drama on tv ---- young wannabe girls, high tension to be what you are not. We saw it this week on Gossip Girl (Can they send Chuck Bass out to West Bev HS to stir the pot a little?) The OC seemed to have a fashion show every other week and of course the infamous Jackie taylor fashion show.
- Speaking of Jackie Taylor, Mel is married to yet another child bride, I mean we saw Jackie a few weeks ago, how long was that going to last?
- Silver now is getting a house to herself ala Dylan
- Only a matter of time before a few racial remarks were thrown around. Those were good ones though and worth the wait. Everyone just seemed to let it slide that there was a new teenage black kid in town living with the new principal. Now does Dixon getting the stereotypical reputation or does that story fade away being that Debbie has gotten to keep her job?
- I have been calling for more lori loughlin but they need to do a better job than that, she has a huge following and it needs to be exploited.
- When the original first started in 1990 it had so much bad acting, partially because the majority of the cast was fresh and in their first real roles and partially because teen drama was unheard of in 1990 and the producers and writers could not adapt. Shortly though everyone fell into their role and there was little to no bad acting left. Then the original successor to BH 90210, the OC, did not have bad acting, other than Mischa Barton, solely because of Josh Schwartz. He was reaching, he was well researched and knew what he was doing in writing and producing that show. My point is this Naomi girl, she is horrendous. Her storylines are childish, her character is stupid as she actually thinks this Ethan guy likes her. Ethan is with her so he can get laid and because he feels bad. Naomi’s character in the pilot, recall she was out spending daddy’s money at the clubs fits more than this whiney girl thinking she is going to make her parents get back together. she should be out there milking this for all its worth from her daddy. Even Kelly Taylor handled Jack Taylor like more of an adult. My wife, who refuses to read this but watches religiously, commented on Naomi last night and how her character just doesn’t fit. Her comments were more geared to her choice of outfits than anything with substance.
- Was Kelly living in Carly’s old house that David subsequently moved into? What happened to the beach apartment?
- Navid is back and is Persian, no comment yet? but figures his dad is in the porn business.
- Naomi’s mom can be the Beverly Hills town slut, exciting
- Good choice by Annie, just be friends. It was sort of like the Brandon/mary ann moore goodbye
- Adrianna will cause some hell on this show. Rumor has it she is going to try and have an affair with Ryan, most likely for revenge
- Brenda Walsh makes this show for me, don’t know about anyone else
- Lot of name dropping last night --- Dylan, Brandon, Mel, Jackie. Those that have not yet been name dropped include David, Steve, Janice, Valerie, Gina, Noah, Matt, Andrea (unless you include Hannah Zuckerman Vazquez) and Jim and Cindy Walsh.

As always if I missed anything or you have any ideas just let me know.

As always welcome new 9-0ers. Till next week.

Jeff
